New British Ambassador Appointed to Costa Rica

Tom Kennedy, Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order, will succeed Georgina Butler as British Ambassador to Costa Rica and non-resident Ambassador to Nicaragua, the British Embassy announced yesterday.

Kennedy, presently Consul General in Bordeaux, France, is expected to arrive in Costa Rica in July with his wife, Clare Marie Kennedy, and their 5-year-old son.

His extensive history in foreign posts includes four years in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as secretary of press and public diplomacy for the British Embassy (1994-97), and five years with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, among other positions, according to the embassy.
