Family and friends are mourning the death of physician recruiter William Justin Singer Silvey, who died in a car accident in Bloomington, Indiana, Jan. 22. He was 26.
Born in Costa Rica’s mountaintop community of Monteverde, Silvey, known as Singer or Will, is survived by his mother, watercolor artist Sarah Dowell, a longtime Monteverde resident who now lives on Costa Rica’s southern Caribbean coast, and his daughter Ashanti, also in the Caribbean coast, as well as his sister Amy Dowell, nephew Morgan Dowell, and aunt Susan Tyler Eastman, all residents of Bloomington.
Silvey, son of the late Terald E. Silvey, was schooled in Monteverde and Bloomington, and briefly attended BallStateUniversity in Muncie, Indiana.
After working and living in Costa Rica and Chicago, Silvey, who had turned 26 on Jan. 14, moved to Bloomington to work as a physician recruiter for The Curare Group.
Silvey died at approximately 4 a.m. at BloomingtonHospital from head injuries, after crashing into a utility pole several hours earlier. Police believe speed may have been a factor in the one-car collision, which is under investigation.
