‘Have a Heart,’ play golf and support education

The 12th annual “Have a Heart” Charity Golf Tournament will be held Feb. 14 at the Hacienda Pinilla Golf Course. The annual Valentine’s Day event is the major fundraiser for Amigos de la Educación Foundation, a nonprofit that provides scholarships to underprivileged youth and helps improve school infrastructure within a 20-mile radius of Tamarindo on the northern Pacific coast.

The registration fee includes a cocktail party at Villa Alegre B & B in Playa Langosta on Feb. 12, nine holes of complimentary practice golf at Hacienda Pinilla on Feb. 13, and all the Valentine’s Day festivities: breakfast, golf tournament and awards luncheon with silent auction and raffle. Items donated for the silent auction include round-trip JetBlue airfare from Liberia to New York City, a three-night mini-vacation at the JW Marriott Guanacaste, dinner for two at Villa Deevena in Playa Negra and a two-night luxury stay and spa treatment for two at Los Altos de Eros in Cañafístula.

Register for the tournament at the Amigos’ office in Tamarindo (2653-1945), Plaza Tamarindo, Suite A-10, weekdays from 9-5 p.m. Golfers who register before Feb. 1 receive a discount. For registration details and more information call the foundation at 2653-1945 or visit www.amigoseducacion.org. Volunteers and donations are always welcome.
