Two Costa Ricans Go Down in San Andres Plane Crash

Two Costa Ricans were uninjured in a Boeing 737 that broke into three pieces on Monday morning as it landed on a Caribbean island near the coast of Nicaragua.

Officials are calling the accident a ‘miracle’ as only one of the 121 passengers died. The plane was operated by Colombia’s Aires airlines and was flying from Bogotá to the island of San Andres, a territory of Colombia.

The Costa Rican Foreign Ministry is reporting two Costa Ricans of Colombian origin – Choly Valeria Marley and Carlos Pedreros – were aboard, but escaped uninjured.

The lone death was a result of a heart attack.
