Spain willing to mediate Costa Rica – Nicaragua border dispute

MAR DEL PLATA, Argentina (AP) — Spain added its name to a list of countries willing to help mediate an ongoing border conflict between Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Spain offered its assistance during the Ibero-American Summit this weekend in the South American country.

“Spain has made clear that as a country friendly to both nations, and as a friend of Ibero-America, she stands ready to participate with any eventual group of friends working to help restore the climate of confidence that is necessary for this border conflict to be resolved,” said Spain’s Foreign Minister Trinidad Jiménez.
