U.S. Citizen Found Dead in Tamarindo

Costa Rica’s National Police in Tamarindo, a beach town in the northwestern province of Guanacaste, discovered the body of 23-year-old U.S. citizen Austin Allen Hiers on Thursday morning at 7:15 a.m. near Witch’s Rock Restaurant.

Officials at the Tamarindo police station said Heirs was seen eating at the restaurant the same morning.

According to police, Heirs did not have any signs of weapon-induced or external injuries, and said the cause of death is still unknown. Police did not know if Heirs has been assaulted.

Heirs’ body has been taken to the Judicial Morgue in San Joaquín de Heredia, northwest of San José, for an autopsy, police said.
