100 Career Victories

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ Nicaraguan-born pitcher Vicente Padilla recorded his 100th Major League win June 30 against the San Francisco Giants. Padilla, who lists himself as being 32 years old, was born in Chinandega. He becomes only the second Nicaraguan pitcher to reach the 100-victory milestone and is only 7 wins away from making the exclusive list of the top 500 winningest pitchers of all time. Nicaragua’s Denis Martínez remains Latin America’s winningest pitcher in Major League history, recording 245 career wins before retiring in 1998.
