Off-Broadway Musical To Open Next Month

The Little Theatre Group is getting ready to sing the trials and tribulations of relationships, love and marriage for its next production, the off-Broadway hit musical “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” coming up in April.

With book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, this amusing, charming and at times poignant show ran for 12 years at the Westside Theatre in New York City, in addition to 400 other cities worldwide.

Under the experienced leadership of director Sally O’Boyle, cast members Kathryn Smith, María Jesús Monge, Cliff Robison and Ricardo Jiménez are now in rehearsal. The show includes some 20 songs and promises to entertain audiences with its antics and to leave all with food for thought.

The production will have a four-weekend run starting April 9 and 10 in Playa Hermosa, in the northwestern Guanacaste province. It will then move to the group’s San José home theater, the Laurence Olivier, April 16 to May 2, with Friday and Saturday performances at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m.

Reservations can be booked online at www.littletheatregroup.org or by calling 8858-1446. The Web site gives directions to the theater on Avenida 2 for first-time audience members. Dinner-theater options are also offered online, featuring Tin Jo and Grano de Oro restaurants in San José.
