Sansa Inaugurates New Flights to Limón
Sansa Regional Costa Rica airlines began its thrice-weekly, 50-minute flights from San José to the Caribbean port city of Limón last weekend. A special inaugural flight took place June 30, with regular commercial flights beginning the following day. Last Friday’s flights, which went off without a hitch, took two planes filled with government officials and journalists to Limón, where they were greeted by calypso musicians and other artists, and an array of Caribbean food.
The airline plans to begin flights from Limón to Bocas del Toro, Panama, in mid-August. The new flights are expected to increase tourism to the region and attract investment; another Costa Rican airline, Nature Air, also plans flights between San José-Limón-Bocas del Toro, as well as from Limón to the northern Caribbean town of Tortuguero, starting in December (TT, June 23).
