Bringing the Gym Home

Why go to the gym, when you can bring the gym home? For those who prefer to do their sweating in the comfort of their own living room, The Tico Times found a few places to buy home workout equipment.

Super Fitness is the exclusive distributor in Costa Rica of Life Fitness, the largest maker and distributor of cardiovascular and strength-training equipment in the world, representative Xavier Tapia told The Tico Times. With product details on the Life Fitness Web site, www.lifefitness.com, Tapia claims the widest selection of workout equipment in the market, and adds that Super Fitness also distributes to hotels, condominiums and gyms.

Super Fitness has two locations, one in the western suburb of Escazú (228-2092) and the other in San Pedro (280-2723), east of San José.

Cicadex is a sports-equipment supply company that deals from the micro to the macro, offering a range of products from exercise bikes to entire gyms, built from the ground up. According to representative Miguel Sáurez, the company even manufactured the turf for the Ricardo Saprissa soccer stadium in Tíbas, north of San José.

In home workout equipment, Cicadex offers cardiovascular machines, such as stationary bikes, spinning bikes and elliptical machines, and strength training equipment.

A showroom of the products can be found online at www.mundocfitness.com. For more on Cicadex, see the new Cicadex Web site, www.cicadex.com.
