Annual Festivities Under Way in Palmares

PARTY IN PALMARES: The annual Palmares Fiestas have been in full swing all this week in the coffee town of Palmares, northwest of San José. The festival draws visitors from all over the country each year, with bullfights, fireworks, horse parades, music, carnivals and plenty of food and drink.

 

The festivities run through Monday; this weekend’s highlights include a “Great Apache Carnival” today at 5:30 p.m., an amateur boxing match tomorrow at 1 p.m., a bull-riding championship Sunday at 3 p.m., and bullfights and concerts at various times throughout the weekend.
