Sarapiquí Adventure Race Takes Place This Weekend

THE Sarapiquí Adventure Race begins tonight at midnight and goes through Sunday nonstop. Racers will run, mountain bike, raft, inner tube, climb, rappel, swim, canoe, horseback ride and orienteer over 180 kilometers of wilderness in the Atlantic-slope rain forest around Sarapiquí. Teams of four men and women will compete, helping each other along the course.The exact route is secret and will be revealed only at the start line when the racers have topographical maps in hand.Sunday is open to inexperienced racers for a one-day course that begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at about 2 p.m., depending on the racers’ speed. Race organizer Johana Argüello said anyone who practices some kind of sport can participate.
