FRESH fruits and vegetables weresold outside the Legislative Assembly indowntown San José Thursday in honor ofNational Day of the Farmer.The feria del agricultor celebrated themen and women from the countrysidewho have helped develop the national patrimonythrough agriculture, according to astatement from the Legislative Assembly.Also in honor of National Day of theFarmer, the Ministry of Agriculture andLivestock plans to announce the winner ofthe National Medal of Agricultural MeritSunday at 9 a.m., in the University ofCosta Rica’s Fabio Baudrit AgriculturalStation (EEAFB) in La Garita de Alajuela,northwest of San José.The medal has been awarded since1978 to people who have distinguishedthemselves for their business, scientific,professional or technical contributions tothe development of agriculture, livestockor fishing.In addition to celebrating farmersaround the country, the agricultural stationis celebrating its 50th anniversary.
