McKee Project Turns Five
APRIL 6 marked the fifth anniversaryof the McKee Project, a grassrootsprogram providing spay/neutertraining to veterinarians and offeringlow-cost spay/neuter services aroundthe country.McKee philosophy and practice arebased on implementing no-kill communitystrategies versus constructingshelters. The strategy is supported byMinister of Health Rocío Sáenz, whospoke of the project’s importance at itsanniversary celebration at the MarriottHotel in San Antonio de Belén, west ofSan José, when animal-protection associationsfrom across the country – collectivelyknown as McKee – gatheredto celebrate the project’s successes.
