Confused Over 1970s Divas

Dear Nica Times:

I am a regular reader of both The Tico Times and The Nica Times and I’ve never written in before, but could not let a glaring error go on the record.

Your caption under the photo of the Dream Girls on page 6 (NT, April 20) states that the 1970s group, The Supremes, was headed by Donna Summers.

WRONG.While Donna Summer (there is no “s” at the end of her name) was definitely in that era and a diva, it was Diana Ross who was the lead singer.

In fact, the group was eventually known as Diana Ross & the Supremes. As a fan of all of these ladies, I had to set the record straight. Saludos!

Editor’s note: In the words of Diana Ross’ hit song, “I’m Livin’ in Shame.”
