Music to be Celebrated on Summer Solstice

JUNE 21 is Music Day, andeveryone is encouraged to dust offtheir instruments and voices on thelongest day of the year.In Costa Rica, the celebration iscoordinated by various organizations,including Alliance Française, theMinistry of Culture, Youth and Sports,the Municipality of San José, and theCosta Rican-North American CulturalCenter. Events in the Central Valleywill be held at several venues, includingPlaza de la Cultura, AvenidaCentral, the Editus Academy of theArts, El Observatorio and Jazz Café.A special closing concert bypianist Jacques Sagot will take placein the National Theater at 8 p.m.Admission is free, but space is limited;call 221-5341 for more information.For a full schedule of events, seethe Calendar.
