Arenal Report
Oscar Enrique Cordero Espinoza opened a veterinary office in downtown Nuevo Arenal two months ago. He was trained as a veterinarian in Mexico and has been practicing for 35 years; for the last 10 years he has been working in the Arenal area. Oscar has had an office in Tilarán for many years and continues his work there. At the Nuevo Arenal office, Oscar sells pet supplies and sees patients on Tuesday and Friday. He can be reached at 8980-2333.
The town of San Luis will be having a small Cinco de Mayo fiesta the weekend of May 5 to raise funds to light the football field, create a town park and make some improvements to the community salon. There will be a variety of games, soccer, kickball and more. Finca Chapulin is donating a pig to be roasted.
The communities of Arenal, El Aguacate and Río Piedras are starting a recycling program, and the trash pickup for these communities will be on Thursday. For people who live closer to town, schools collect recycling on Tuesdays for the trucks.
Nuevo Arenal is working on building a recycling center 200 meters west of Banco Nacional. Banco Nacional has donated the small lot and the community is working to raise funds for the recycling center. You can also make a donation to help build the recycling center at the Arenal ICE office.
