Flamingo/Potrero News

November 23, 2011

The Playa Potrero Association presented a bingo night Nov. 16 at Marie’s Restaurant. All proceeds from bingo and a percentage of food and beverage sales from the evening will go toward finishing the community center in Playa Potrero.

The fifth annual Reserva Conchal Home-owners Charity Golf Tournament is set for Dec. 1 at the Reserva Conchal Golf Course, with a scramble format and an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The $100 entry fee includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart rental and a buffet dinner at the Reserva Conchal Beach Club with cash bar, awards ceremony, silent auction and 50/50 raffle. Dinner for non-golfers costs $35. All proceeds go directly to CEPIA, a nonprofit that helps disadvantaged children in the area, and Costa Rica Pet Care, which organizes spay-neuter clinics and medical care for local cats and dogs. RSVP for the event to jean.capezza@comcast.net or 2654-4833.

CEPIA is also hosting a “Christmas Creation” decoration contest Dec. 11, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at Las Catalinas at Playa Danta. Those interested in entering must fill out a registration form, pay ₡1,000 ($2) and submit their decorations by Dec. 1. The event will include lots of fun activities: kayaking, stand-up paddling, games, Santa Claus, raffle, treasure hunt and more. For more information, call 8301-8282.

Locals and visiting families and tourists alike recently enjoyed a fun karaoke night at Maxwell’s Bar and Restaurant. Maxwell’s offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with competitive prices and excellent quality. For information, call Kelly at 2654-4319.

Don’t miss Guanacaste’s newest rock band, Local Legend, performing Saturday evening at Marie’s Restaurant.
