The Oasis at Hotel Brasilito, on the beach on the south side of the square in Brasilito, is hosting a Black and White Dance Party Nov. 5, 8 p.m.-midnight. Tickets cost ₡10,000 ($20) in advance or ₡12,500 ($25) at the door, and include a light appetizer buffet, welcome drink and raffle entry. There will be a DJ and cash bar. The location was nicely set up, the food prepared by the Beach Club crew was beautifully displayed and delicious, and the atmosphere was festive and fun. Local women got together, shared a meal and enjoyed performances by the Westin Dancers and, of course, the fashion show with models showing off the latest fashions from Profundo Azul in Tamarindo, Britt Boutique in Reserva Conchal and Conchal Pro Golf Shop. Many thanks to Anne Scalf and Maureen Thompson for their tireless efforts to coordinate the event.El Coconut Beach Club in Playa Potrero has reopened after its low-season break, offering fantastic barbecue and live music on Sundays as usual. A Murder Mystery Dinner is planned for Nov. 12 at Marie’s Restaurant. The cost of $35 per person includes a special five-course dinner as well as a prize for the winner at each table.
