Jacó Happenings

June 9, 2011

Two tour companies in our area have received great recognition from the popular Internet travel site TripAdvisor. Discovery Horse Tours, based just outside Jacó, has been awarded a 2011 Certificate of Excellence. Owners Chris and Andrea Wady are thrilled at the honor. Theirs is the first horse tour in the country to be awarded this distinction, and they think it is wonderful for TripAdvisor to acknowledge a company that loves its animals. For more information about Discovery Hose Tours, visit www.horesridecostarica.com, or contact Andrea at 2643-7151 to set up a tour.

Also honored by TripAdvisor was Costa Rica Waterfall Tours, which is operated with a hands-on approach by owner Michael Marino with the assistance of Vladimir Alvarado. Clients get to see incredible waterfalls and experience a guided nature tour. The tour was recognized for maintaining a five-star rating in the independent customer reviews posted on the website. For more information about Costa Rica Waterfall Tours, call 2643-1834 or visit www.costaricawaterfalltours.com.

Restaurante Paparazzi, featuring delicious Italian cuisine made with the highest-quality products imported from Italy, is under new management. The service here is Italian-style – friendly and fun! Owners Roberto and Stefania Spadaro say they run their “soul kitchen” by preparing plates made with the soul. Server Ronny is glad to offer great wines, Italian espresso and pastries while customers listen to great Italian music. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Paparazzi is across from the Hotel Tuanis on Calle Girasol. For information, email stefaniapolce@libero.it or call 8386-0114.

The Central Pacific Women’s Group is holding a special Lunch Bunch event June 14 at 11 a.m. at Plankton Lounge in Ocean Plaza. This will be a joint luncheon with the women’s group from Atenas, and a great opportunity to try a new restaurant, socialize and see group members Shirley Lawes and Camille Naylor, who moved to Atenas. Please email centralpacificwomensgroup@yahoo.com if you plan on attending. The group’s regular meeting will be held the following day, June 15, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Morgan’s Cove Resort. Heidy and Irene from the macrobiotic store Manantiales de Vida in Jacó will talk about natural products made in Costa Rica. They will explain the properties and benefits of noni juice, hair and skin products, organic cosmetics and essential oils, all available from the store below Platinum Gym. For information, call 2643-2391.

Don’t forget to check out the action and entertainment in Playa Hermosa at the 2011 National and Metropolitan Surf Circuit finals, today through Sunday.
