Silvia Roldán, a lawyer and inspector with the Costa Rican Social Security System (Caja), will be speaking about general information and requirements of the Caja at this month’s Central Pacific Women’s Group meeting. Caja insurance is offered to everyone in the country, not just residents. This will be an informative program to clear up doubts or unknowns regarding the Caja. The meeting is set for Feb. 16 at 9 a.m. at Balcón del Mar in Jacó.
On Feb. 18, the women’s group will hold its second bake sale at the CEN-CINAI preschool in front of the post office. The sale starts at 8 a.m. and will continue until all items are sold. Proceeds and donations will be used to paint the school. Volunteers and baked goods are needed for the event; for information, call 2643-2853.
And on Feb. 23, the group will visit the day care center for the elderly in Quebrada Ganado to bring crafting items such as sewing notions and fabrics, coloring books, crayons and other supplies. A bus will be available for transportation. Please bring donations of crafting supplies to the group’s meeting on Feb. 16 and sign up for the trip. It is sure to be a rewarding experience. To pick up some fabrics to bring, check out Lizeth Corrales’ tailor shop next to Importadora Monge on the main street of Jacó. She sews clothes, curtains and bedding and sells bolts of fabric from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can reach her at 2643-1262.
