Coco Capsule

December 23, 2010

Along with the traditional fireworks blasting from beach parties and larger resorts, New Year’s will be celebrated with a lot of exciting parties throughout the Playas del Coco area on Dec. 31. The new and wildly popular venue Carlito’s Way in Hermosa Heights will feature Greg Denard’s final concert, along with a dinner buffet and fireworks starting at 9 p.m. For more information, including cost, call 2672-1521. At the extreme other end of the beach, also starting at 9 p.m., Father Rooster will present Grupo Diversus, a buffet, open bar and fireworks, all for $55. In downtown Coco, Coconutz will offer an all-you-can-eat-and-drink buffet with live music from 8 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Reservations can be made at 2670-1982.

Pacifico Beach Club will be quiet late on New Year’s Eve, though dinner will be served earlier in the evening. Those wanting a day’s head start on the weekend of fun should plan on going to the club’s happy hour Dec. 30 for fire dances, belly dancing and the popular band Yerba Buena. The club will also serve breakfast on New Year’s Day starting at 7:30 a.m. for late partygoers or early risers. Note that Pacifico accepts only credit or debit cards.

And for those who’ve made the resolution to take up golf in the new year, Papagayo Golf and Country Club will be offering golf lessons Monday through Sunday. To set up a time, call 2697-0169.
