Mar y Sol Restaurant in Flamingo closed its doors Aug. 23 for rainy-season vacation time. The longtime local eatery will reopen in November.
The Electric Storm gave a hot performance recently at Marie’s Restaurant in Flamingo. DC (bass and vocals), Dave Nelson (guitar), Brian (guitar and backing vocals) and Pitilo (drums) played rock, blues and ’70s and ’80s classics, along with new songs, throughout the evening.
The Great Ideas Women’s Group continues to meet monthly to catch up on news, share stories and raise funds for its school scholarship project to help area students attend college.
Happy birthday to August celebrants Bruce Bennett of Flamingo and Annllancell Chamberlain and Gene Martin Jr. of Potrero. And congratulations to Gregory and Monica Fleurbaey of the Oki Doki (formerly the B & B Lodge) in Potrero, big sisters Naomi and Chloe and granddad Freddy on the birth of baby Shenoa.
Welcome back to Flamingo Marina Resort condo owners Dave and Penny Gerlach from Hawaii. Also, a belated welcome home to JR, Maylynn, Cameron and Avery Wilson of Potrero and Vicky, Ashlee and Olivia Goodloe of Flamingo, who returned from a wonderful trip to Alaska.
