Jacó Happenings

March 5, 2010

Paolo Quaglia coached local kids in the Garabito Olympic Sports Week Judo Tournament last week, and now some of them are ready for national competition. Gold medals went to Allan Madrigal, Erich Rojas and Torrey Moss; silvers to Esteban Montiel and Emanuel Hernández; and bronzes to Imanuel Teledón and Mónica Castro.

You don’t have to stand in line anymore at the Banco de Costa Rica. The bank has implemented an electronic ticket system and seating where you can wait until your number is called. If you prefer to use an ATM, note that most ATMs in Jacó do not dispense money between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. The only one that is open late-night is BAC San José’s ATM on the second floor of Il Galeone mall. Scotiabank now has an ATM machine in the Más x Menos, but it is open only during store hours.

Jay and Melanie Pond of Palm Coast Interiors have announced the winner of their “Escape to Luxury” room makeover contest: Herradura’s Amanda Barger and husband Brian, who submitted their master bedroom as a makeover candidate. Jay and Melanie thank all the entrants and their preferred industry partners for making the contest possible. For more information about the design center, contact 2643-2174 or info@palmcoastinteriors.com.

Stand-up comedy returns to Lemon Zest restaurant tonight at 6 p.m., with U.S. comedians Josh Filipowski, Gabe Pacheco and Mike Ennis. To reserve a table, call Nellie at 2643-2591.
