Tamarindo Talk

February 5, 2010

A new high-quality casino is going in at the Shops@Diria across from the TamarindoDiriaBeach and Golf Resort. Look for it in about three months. Meanwhile, in the next few weeks, the Diria will open a new state-of-the-art conference center next to the casino spot.

Boxing and mixed martial arts will return to Tamarindo with a full card Feb. 11 at Le Beach Club. Expect to see names such as Chris Horodecki, Sivianny Chacón, Thai Baoli and more. For tickets and information, call Jean-Francois Billon at 8858-2982.

Register early this year for the 10th anniversary of the Have a Heart Charity Golf Tournament, by heading to Plaza Tamarindo, Suite A-10, Monday to Friday between 9 and 5 p.m. The tournament takes place Feb. 14 starting at 8:30 a.m. at Hacienda Pinilla, and benefits area schools. The cost is $125 per golfer, including nine holes of free practice, cart, green fee, breakfast and awards luncheon. For more information, call 2653-0270 or 8825-2127.

Bar 1, which is officially two years old this Saturday, now has a pool table to further entertain its clientele. Go up and bust ’em when you can.

Food delivery seems to be on the rise in Tamarindo. In addition to FT and Pizza Hut, which both offer express service, Como en Casa now delivers, offering a different selection of full menus each night for ¢2,500 ($4.50). Call Como en Casa at 8350-7298 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m.
