Nrmal Festival

The first edition of the Nrmal Music Festival to be held outside of its native Mexico will take place in Costa Rica this Saturday. Featured bands include The Sonics (United States), Gepe (Colombia), Helado Negro (Ecuador), Buscabulla (Puerto Rico), AAAA (from Mexico), Algodón Egipcio (Venezuela), and aUTOPerro, Raido, Hijos, and The Wiesengrund Project (all four from Costa Rica).

Magic Fair

Asociación Bienestar Social De La Ciudad De Escazú will hold its annual craft fair in order to raise funds for education.

“Feria Mágica” takes place Nov. 21 at Asociación Bienestar Social De La Ciudad De Escazú, in front of the Cruz Roja in Escazú. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Free. Find more info at the Asociation Facebook page.

Expo Tattoo

The sixth edition of Expo Tattoo will take place Nov. 21-22 at Cariari Country Club; the event will feature 95 stands with tattoo experts and special guests. Musicians performing during the event will include Balerom, La Milixia, Alterk 2 and El Guato; belly dancing and various competitions round out the lineup.

Tamal Fest

The town of Aserrí will be hosting a three day tamal fest this weekend. Activities include the sale of tamales, tamal-eating contests, craft sales, parades, traditional games, clowns, folk dances, masquerades, concerts, and Costa Rican food sales.

Cultural: Art City Tour

The sixth and last edition of this year’s Art City Tour, “Noche en Blanco,” takes place this Nov. 20 starting at 5 p.m. Art City Tour is a regular event that offers participants free access to museums and other participating institutions throughout downtown San José. Itineraries include tours through different museums, galleries, cultural centers, design stores, parks and historical buildings.

Acting Workshop

Develop your acting abilities through relaxation, concentration and improvisation exercises. No experience needed.

Ciudad Colón Library Anniversary

The library celebrates its 30th birthday on Saturday. Celebrations starts at 9 a.m. with the visit of Mayor Gilbert Monge, followed by a dance by the Artistic Department of the Casa de la Cultura at 10 a.m. Throughout the day many more activities will take place, such as a painting contest, a mask-making workshop and contest, storytelling, the exhibit and sale of crafts, a photo exhibit, an exhibit of classic and antique books, a book trade and face painting. Food and fruit juices will be available.

Dance: Retrospective

Aerial dance school and company Danzaire, presents its latest performance of the year. Retrospective is a performance of the different aerial acrobatics disciplines, contemporary dance, and theater; under the direction of renowned dancers Carolina Cabañas (director of Danzaire) and Ricardo Thames.

Art Exhibit: Povda-Alfonso-Romero

Costa Rican artists Carlos Poveda, who lives and works in Paris; Jairo Alfonso, who lives and works in New York; and rising talent Pablo Romero collaborate on an exhibit including photography, drawings, videos, collages and more.
